Cube teams up with Once For All for Building Safety Act Webinar Series
Cube Construction Consultants is working with Constructionline and Once For All (OFA) to deliver a series of webinars which answer key questions around the Building Safety Act and the Common Assessment Standard requirements for subcontractors.
Building Safety into Common Assessment Standards
Since the introduction of the Building Safety Act in 2022, there has been significant change and increased pressure on construction contractors to legally possess the required level of organisational capability, as outlined within Part 2A – Dutyholders and Competence, of the Building Regulations 2010. This means their supply chain members should also possess, and be able to evidence, the same levels of competence.
Leading contractors from the UK construction industry have recently come together to sign an open letter about their changing construction supply chain requirements in line with the Building Safety Act.
From 1st October 2025, major contractors in the UK Construction industry will require mandatory completion of the Building Safety questions in the Common Assessment Standard (CAS) by its supply chain. By not completing the CAS Building Safety section, subcontractors risk missing out on opportunities from multiple main contractors.
Misunderstanding the Building Safety Act
Based on feedback from the construction industry and its membership, Once For All, has identified several pain points and stumbling blocks for firms attempting to complete the building safety questions. These are largely due to lack of understanding or misinformation on the Building Safety Act or confusion over who and what the Act applies to.
Webinar Series: Who and what does the Building Safety Act apply to?
With the October deadline rapidly approaching, when completion of the building safety questions within the CAS will be mandatory for working with many main contractors, OFA and Cube have put together a series of webinars to explain more.
The series of free webinars are aimed at supporting construction supply chain businesses with understanding their obligations under the Building Safety Act and successfully completing the Building Safety section of the CAS.
The first in the series, Who and what does the Building Safety Act apply to? taking place on Wednesday 27th August at 10am, will provide an overview of the Building Safety Act and look at what building projects are covered by the Act, who it applies to and explore the next steps and support available for contractors.
Building Safety Act Online Drop-in Sessions: Common questions answered
Following the first overview session, in September and October, Cube, Constructionline and Once For All will run weekly drop in Q&A sessions giving guidance to subcontractors on how to answer the CAS Building Safety questions effectively.
Tim Briggs, Scheme Governance Manager at Once For All and Directors Nicola Slater and Mark Johnston from Cube Construction Consultants will be among representatives on hand at each session to answer questions and provide feedback on common queries.
